A man's face is his autobiography. A woman's face is her work of fiction.-Oscar Wilde

My apologies for the lack of content. I have been busy to the point of mania and today is my very first day to take a deep breath. However, you can look forward to lots of exciting material coming up. I served as the artistic director (styling, location scouting, casting, conceptualizing) for a 2010 calendar coming out soon! As the pictures begin to come out, I will share them here as long as some behind the scenes footage. Besides styling, I've been encountering a lot of great new artists and authors I would love to share.

Novel:
I finished Eleven Minutes(by Paulo Coelho), cried, and then read it again. This book made such an impact on me that I feel compelled to share it with you all. I can't talk about it without giving anything away, but the story is a masterpiece.

Art:
Studied Wengechi Mutu in my contemporary art history class this week and I fell in love with her work. The artist, originally from Kenya, got her MFA from Yale and now lives in Brooklyn, NY. You can see some of my favorite collage pieces here.

Questions for my readers:

1) I love this from Topshop. Of course, I'm going to have to try them in person before buying but how does one wear so much black material at once? Is it gothic chic or wicked witch of the west? Is it a matter of accessories? Breaking it up with a belt? Help!

2) I'm going for a super short, almost pixie cut, on Friday. I have some ideas of what I want but more photo reference always helps. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

That's all for now. I return to NY tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions!!

Oh wear it with something like this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24574540

or http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=34409221

and then throw on a belt, earrings and bracelets and it'd look great .

I can't wait to see what it looks like! If you don't already visit Apricot Tea, she's a great short style reference. Her cut is on point. Hel-Looks has featured some nice pixie cuts, too.

I love pixie cuts so much!
i personally am a fan of P!nk's pixie and Rihanna's. Their cuts are always fresh and playful....a lot of people have been cutting their hair like Rihanna so I think you would look cute with a modified pixie thats more original. Halle berry had a really cute short hair cut at one point too.

I say go for the Topshop dress. I've been looking for a maxi dress like that myself. I'm afraid it wouldn't suit my bodytype necessarily.

Love those shades!
I would wear the dress with a cropped vest or giant belt to accentuate the waist. And I would pair it with a massive necklace (a la The Glamourai) or some statement earrings. Generally though, I think you should keep it all black though, unless you were to do soft color. Brights would just look wierd with it! Good luck and I can't wait to see it!!

ps- I love rolling up the sleeves a little on things like that, just to show a little more skin :)
